First time offshore in about 6 weeks - got the pass from the wife and the weather report was favorable.
Ran to the GT Hole at sunrise, over 50mph, flat and fast. Lines in, and slow going, very slow. Came up on deeper water and trolled around the commercial fishers - our first HOO was boated. Game ON!
Slow but steady, landed a medium bull dolphin, then a 55 lb HOO, then we stopped and tried for our one each ARS - they must be endangered, as we didnt find any. We did boat a very large AJ, a black fin, a few varieties of grouper, lesser AJs, b liners, but no ARS.
Back on the troll and we landed another big HOO, 59lbs, one cuda, then a ‘sling and oops release’ mahi.
Fast ride in at 55 mph.
A great day on the water, even if we didn’t land the elusive ARS.
The photos are an evolving process for me. They are HDR (high dynamic range) photos. I shoot with a Canon 60D, Sigma 17-50 f 2.8 lens, polarized rotating filter - shoot bracketed exposures - put them on photoshop to color correct, merge, color correct, then bring in to iphoto to manage and share with friends.
A lot of time went in to perfecting the setup - i have some cool ‘non fishing shots’ on my facebook page. PM me for the link.
