PainKiller February 1, 2015

A rare Sunday pass from the admiral, so off we journeyed. Capt Jay, classmate Brian and friend Britt - we bundled up for the frigid run out in search of Wahoo at the Scarp.

The seas were friendly. The PainKiller was repowered with Yamaha 300s and ran a spectacular 57 mph on the way out. FAST!

The temp was 68, nearing 69. Seas were sporty, with areas of slicks - no temperature breaks. We trolled the usual spread of ballyhoo, to no avail. One short strike - didn’t even trip the outrigger clip.

A good number of turtles was all we saw for life. No birds at the scarp.

The winds were picking up - we changed to high speed trolling. Two trips up and down the scarp with nothing to show for it. Nada.

Back in to the parking lot for bottom fishing. We filled the box in no time with our limits of black sea bass and vermillion snapper.

A good time was had by all - except for the wahoo who never made an appearance.

Tight lines,
Jason
