PainKiller Saturday AM 4/30/16

With a rare pass from the Admiral, I was able to take my two oldest children offshore with friends. Due to the WINDY forecasts previously, this was our first shot at the Dolphin Run of 2016.

We left out in rather good conditions, straight to the Scarp. It was CROWDED! Not used to seeing more than one or two boats on our regular wednesday afternoon trips. Good to have the company!

Just as soon as the lines were in, we boated a 20lb Mahi on the planer rod. It was ON!

And then the county line started screaming. Peeling off line like there was no tomorrow! Just when we got it close to the boat, it made another run. Not a Mahi, for sure, but what. Alas, a 67 lb HOO!

And then a double HOO hook-up. My son took one and friend Pat took the other.

We ran through a SLOW spell after that. The next double hook up - my daughter boated a bonita and Jimmy an Amber Jack.

Getting ready to call it a day, as the wind started picking up, the last rod went off - my daughter landed a fat Black Fin! She has a knack for the tuna, as she is now three for three - all three times she has been in the blue water, she manages to land a Black Fin.

Meatfish Slam complete - we headed back home. The ocean was UGLY on the ride back. We ran 25 mph home. WET ride. We weren’t expecting that?

Not complaining, but we didn’t find the Mahi? Perhaps our bait was too large - after all, we were Wahoo fishing!

3 Wahoo
1 Mahi
1 Black fin tuna

Awesome. Love the pictures.

Those images are really cool. What kind of filter is that?
