Left the dock at 0500 in hopes of an epic day of flat seas and tight lines.
The weatherman had it wrong. The wind was howling, the seas were angry! We pushed on and had lines in around 0745. It wasn’t long before the way back line goes off, big bull mahi.
Rough ocean, water over the bow while trolling, made for a tense few hours. We pushed on along the break, had a few short strikes, then another nice bull in the box.
Rough seas, lines tangled, short strikes on the three long lines, maybe a sail or small schoolies, then another mahi.
Next a football sized black fin, followed by a pair of barracudas.
Fought and lost a jumping mahi ten feet from the boat.
Time to pull the lines in and prepare for the ride home. Fortunately the seas calmed down for a fast ride home. Back at the dock before 2pm.
Thank you for the kind words. The technique is High Dynamic Range and then photoshop. Photography is another hobby of mine since graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Graphic Arts and Photography.
JB,
I was white knuckled for the first few hours Saturday morning - water breaking over the bow while trolling upwind. I was wishing I had a much larger boat…
