PainKiller Wed Morning 5/25/16

Had the opportunity for a whole day off from work - we left the dock at 0500 in search of the morning bite.

When we arrived at the GT Hole, the tuna were jumping. In no time, we had a fattt black fin in the box. A few short strikes, and then it slowed down.

We pushed on to deeper water, looking for the temperature break so eloquently highlighted on our Hiltons Real Time Navigator. Making our way to the deeper waters, we picked up a big Bull Mahi, followed by the WAHOO completing our meat fish slam.

We found the fleet and the temperature break/water color change/weed line and rip at around 800 ft. It was frustrating to clear the lines, have a short strike, clear the lines, have another short strike. We pulled a few off the line, then went ‘snipe hunting’ further off shore. The ocean was FLAT, so why not? After reaching 1200 ft with no activity, we turned back inshore. We went 0 for 1 on an bill fish - suspect a sailfish.

For us, the mahi bite turned off around 11am…

As we were pulling in the lines to return to the hill, schools of tuna were breaking the surface, so we chased and cast into them. Capt Jay landed the catch of the day, a perfect bait sized bonita!

A great time was had by all - we saw a few Marlin tail walking in the distance.

Flat seas made the day enjoyable.

Tight lines,
Jason

I always love your pictures and post. Sounds like you guys did better than most boats fishing this week.
