Painting a boat bumper to look like a Mahi

I have a couple old Taylor bumpers in the garage. I want to daisy chain squid in front a green/yellow painted bumper.

Q: Anyone do this -and what kind of paint should i use?

Dupont Krylon works well on plastics, haven’t tried it on bumpers though. Local Ace Hardware’s should stock lots of colors.

Bring on the 2-3 chop!

I believe Krylon,or Rust Oleum makes a spray for plastics.

Think the paint is called “Fusion”

Done it several times…I thought I showed them to you? They work great.

Bring your bumpers, I already have the paint and am pretty good at it if I dont say so myself…

Smily, I got to see your dredger in action made with the mirror sides and painted in Mahi colors (I was impressed by how it looked in the water) - but what convinced me was how we caught a bunch of fish that day.

I didn’t know you did a boat bumper. The ones I’ve seen in Haddrels have lead weight attached to the front. How is the action on these things - do they dive and pop out of the water? or do they just skip across the top.

I’ve never posted pics. I’ll try to do before and after pics.

I have 12 ounce weight on front, just like the green and yellow one at top of this page seen here:

(mine looks practically identical) its very easy to do.

It dives and pops out most of the time. Sometimes it just swims below surface but will pop up eventually. I keep it just about ten or fiften feet off of transom.

My wife claims it is better luck than the “Sorcerer”, a home made rendition of the Pakula “Witch Doctor”. Mine mimicks the “Hippie”
See it here:

I still prefer the Sorcerer though, lots of flash and action. (Much cheaper than the Pakula model too, around 30 bucks for first one, after that even cheaper since you have materials left over) It too, developed right here in Goose Creek…
