I just bought a new tilt/trim motor to replace the OE on my 2003 70 TLRB Yamaha. The original has considerable rust and I don’t want it to fail me while I am on the water. Before I install the new one, I was thinking about spraying on a coat or two of the Plasti-dip rubberized coating to add a layer of protection. Is there any reason this may be a bad idea?
Thanks
just make sure you prep it REALLY good
if water gets between the coatings, it would be worse than no extra protection

Prep with a light sanding. Wipe with acetone and clean rag. Two light coats of zinc phosphate self etching primer. Top with the engine color paint.
