Kent Stephan and I shot the Palm Beach Open spearfishing tournament this past weekend. Really tough diving conditions. While the ocean was flat the thermocline below was really bad. Diving to 170’ it looked like you were hitting bottom 60’ down because of the algea bloom. At about 130’ it cleared up enough to see but dark and cold. Commercial boats were right on top of the two spots we had scoped out to dive.
Didn’t set the world on fire but it was enough for Our Team to win Best Boat. Kent finished in 2nd place and a $2000 dive gear shopping spree as well as a trophy for first place Hogfish.
I took 3rd Place and ended up with a $1000 dive gear giftcard
Thanks to scoutin4goodies for driving us. Huge help!

Good time guys! Enjoyed running you around from spot to spot ready to dive with you next time and leave the driving to the beautiful ladies that you TYPICALLY have with you. Instead Tye and I were left on the surface to pick the carnage. I will say he was a great crew member and I owe him a fishing trip to a secret bass pond I know about.
Anyone that thinks this is easy needs to spend a day with these guys. The deep water dives they make are extremely technical not to mention shooting fish on top of it. These guys are GOOD.
Here is a few pics to sum up my day from the top side. And yes I do take credit for at least part of the Best Boat award.
We did get in alittle fishing during the divers bottom time.
Guess these guys were paranoid that I would have electronic failure while they were down.
Pretty calm
Phin, what is this? I know do you???
Proof we need to stop littering
Cool pic
Lunch anyone?

I almost for got to mention. Anyone that is up on this tourney knows that lobster are not weighed or counted in anyway so catching one is a waste of tournament time. But my boys hooked me up and brought 2 to the top even though it took time away from the tourney.
I ate the legs and knuckles of one tonight and it filled me up. (it was a good sized one ) Going to eat the tails tomorrow night. The wife is ecstatic, she is not a big fish fan but LOVES lobster! Thanks again guys!
