Left Ocean Isle at 4 am. Lines in at the steeples at 6:30. Looking for the early tuna bite that never happened. Saw what should be tuna on the depthfinder down deep. Supermap showed a hard temp break just offshore of the steeples Thursday, couldn’t find that either. Ran back into the Blackjack at 9, watched the water temp rise to 77. Deployed the spread and had a billfish check us out but couldn’t get him to bite. Trolled scattered weeds without a knockdown before lunch. Found a sea turtle at 1:30 with a large bull and cow under it. Pitched a wax wing to them and the bull smacked it, cow hit the flat line behind the boat. Got the cow, missed the bull. Proceeded to pick at them along the weed mat until 4:45. Ended the day with 5 between 15-20# and one at 23#. VERY SLOW. Quick ride in at 36 knots on a flat ocean. Didn’t see much bait, didn’t see any of the 50 boats around us catching very much either.
nice report
