Tried to get the crew to troll, but they were having none of it. Left MI at 6, anchored up 7 miles from the hole at 8 am. Had time to pull a few silvers and vermillion before the dolphin crew showed up around the boat. Caught three on the spinning gear. Kept working at the bottom fish, loading up on silvers, triggers, and vermillion. More mahi’s at the boat on spinning gear. Stop 2 in 120 ft. Loaded with knotheads, didn’t keep many cuz we were loaded with fish from the last spot. Boated around a 15-20# cow on the spinning tackle. Sent the divers down, no luck. 1 diver back in the boat, another trying to get off his gear, only to have an 8-10 ft Bull Shark get to within 5 ft of him…walking on water is possible. Stop 3, same knotheads, so moved to stop 4. 1 nice grouper on a live bait, sent the divers down and they returned with 2 nice grouper, 2 big bugs, and an estimated 27# hogfish. Back at the dock at 5:30.
Total #s were 8 dolphin, 58 bottom fish between 6 people. 2 man crew on the cleaning job due to “sickness” from some of the crew…total time on the cleaning was 4 hours. Won’t be going with 6 on a bottom bumping trip again unless each person brings a cooler and keeps their own fish. Good trip, good time, great weather.

27lb hog is state record size fish- would love to see that beast if you put a pic up
We will have the pics up later today. Keep in mind that I said it was an estimated size, so I’m sure that severe scrutiny will come about. Also want to thank Just One More Sportfishing for the use of their cleaning station and for attempting to find a scale for us.

Very nice mess of fish- i have shot several similar size hogs…and they went low 20’s lb- stud male hog regardless of how much it weighs
