Heading to Garden City in a week. Usually just fish inshore, but thought about running out to Paradise - it looks like there are a handful of small wrecks/reefs in that area.
It’s only about 30 feet of water or so and I was wondering if it was even worth going out there right now. Any advice on what might be in those areas would be appreciated.
Havent fished up there in years! Use to catch the heck out of spanish between the jetty rocks and there
I’ve fished that reef my whole life but haven’t tried it yet this year. You can usually catch a ton of small sharks and undersized black sea bass. If kings are around, you might have luck freelining a live pinfish, but it’s probably too early for that. There’s a good bit of live bottom and other nearshore reefs from 1-30 miles offshore. Fishing gets better the farther you go obviously.
Lots of king Mack’s and large Spanish being caught near shore right now. The Sun News has good weekly fishing reports.

Fished out of MI yesterday at Belkie Bear. Took my 10 y/o daughter, so we just drifted and dropped squid down and had nonstop trash fish action, but she had a great time. Plenty of Spanish breaking water out there as well, but they dove every time I got near enough to cast at them. Saw some Kings get hauled in (mostly charter boats gaffing fish that will probably never see the dinner table…). Had a pinfish freelined out the back get bit in half (didn’t have a stinger). Fun couple of hours overall.
