Paradise Island Sunday

I went out from Paradise Island Sunday at about 10:00 AM on low tide. I tried to go from Copahee, but it was dry.
I went out with only lures and paddled into the canals and creeks. As the tide came in, I through the cast net a couple of times and got about a half dozen shrimp at the mouth of a tidal creek.
I drifted a shrimp on a floating rig and cast a variety of lures. I continued to drift the incoming tide and I caught a trout on a rootbeer DOA on a lead head.
I pulled the float off of the line and ran the shrimp on the bottom on a fishfinder rig. I was on a sand bar, so I wasn’t moving - no real anchor yet, just the bottle of sand to drag behind me and slow me down a little. I continued to cast the DOA (a new one, the trout got a piece of the other one). I saw some action on the shrimp rod and picked it up. As I picked it up , I felt the tug. I reeled in and fought for a couple of minutes. As it got closer to the boat, I saw the little ray. Fortuately, he didn’t get to swollow the hook and it was easily dislodged from his mouth.
My wife and I will be going back tomorrow.
