Paradise Island

Coming down to fish with my Dad endo of the month. We will be on kayaks and I am breaking out my new flyrod. I have been to the Paradise landing but haven’t fished there. Not looking for specific spot info, I am pretty good at finding fish, but just wanna know if it is a fishy area? My Dad can’t paddle to far so we may ride the tide in and out or visa versa to make it easier. Thanks for the help, my only goal is to put him on some fish, I catch plenty and just love seeing him have success on the water, cuz he ain’t as crazy bout chasing fish as most of us. Thanks

I’m newer to Kayak fishing/saltwater fishing and I enjoy Paradise Landing. A few fish and the boats all seem to be smaller Jon boats (or similar) which is easier in a kayak. I have not done much flyfishing but that is the next step for me.

Thanks man, It looks like good water, Be careful getting into flyfishing. You’ll be the one getting hooked!

If it swims throw a fly at it!

Look at my reports in the inshore reports section. I caught just under 20 fish on Sat and Sun. Mostly reds with two trout. Small flounder were being caught also but not by me.

Also you may want to bring live bait. They were VERY leader shy and would not touch artificials. One guy who just left a spot said that there were tons of fish but wouldn’t hit any of his artificials. I pulled 3 limits or reds from there in about 2 hours on live shrimp.

Bring live shrimp, like Jordan said. I tore them up under a popping cork yesterday morning. Only caught a few on minnows.

Fish is a 4-letter word…

Where do you guys buy live shrimp down there? I would want my dad to be as prepared as possible to catch fish. I’ll be casting a fly…like the challenge but he needs all the help I can give him!

Haddrels Point tackle shop in West Ashley or Mt. P. is where I go.
