Parris Island Reef Sheepshead?

Never fished this reef but am curious if others have done well with the sheepshead. Any ■■■■■■■■ about what else could be caught there this time of year would be great.

It’s been a while, but last time I fished there it was in the spring. Caught black sea bass, sharks, whiting, black drum. I guess you could try the sheeps during a slack tide but I have never done it there. Tide usually rips.

CAN’T SAY FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS SINCE THE COBIA SEASON HAS BEEN CLOSED BUT I USED TO HAVE PRETTY GOOD LUCK ON THEM UP AGAINST THE 170 BRIDGE PILINGS DURING THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE TIDE WHEN THE WATER WASN’T RIPPIN SO HARD… IT MIGHT BE WORTH A TRY !!!

There are plenty of large sheephead at the offshore reefs this time of year…this was a week or so ago at a reef not too far from there. Kept 32, and probably released 15 legal ones that we didn’t want to fillet. All fish caught on Fiddlers. Tried the wrap system, but the got torn up by Blackfish.

Also you will catch rigtails, blackfish, grunts and maybe an endangered ARS.

Wow! Well done. When you say offshore, how far out are you talking? Could they be found as close as the Gordon or Beaufort 45, or more like out at the Ross? Thanks!

These were at 60 feet.

PI reef is much shallower and inshore. Edit… dang nice batch of fish you got IRobalo!!

Funnybanana, I’ve fished the P.I. reef many times and never done anything but a few small stragglers sheep. Weak fish, and black drum right now… and lots of undersize BSB.

Bottom structure has changed over the last several years. Watch your sonar and look for the best looking stuff and anchor as close as you can. Pull up the reef on Google and they have locations of what was placed where and coordinates. Been a few months but all three buoys were there.

Use a reef anchor!

What Gail said about the 170 bridge or run inshore a bit more and try the burnt truss.
