Here is what I have come up with for the swap… what do y’all think? it’s tied on a size 1 hook so it’s about the same size of the shrimp I have seen in the creeks the last cuple of times I was out… The top one is mine, the bottom one is Calibogues Fly he sent me a while back…
This is the rattle Shrimp Calibogue sent me… VERY nicely tied…

You gonna tie a bunch up for this swap? I don’t want to use that fly… it’s too purty to lose!

I will have to catch ya’ll on a later swap…thanks for the kind words!
Those look great! Below are three pics of the rattle shrimp I will be tying for the swap.

why is there a eye on both ends of the fly…a hook eye that is?
so thats one who likes it… should I do this pattern? I want to tie something y’all will want in your fly-box and use. I don’t want to waste your time or mine
BTW… I am gonna hold you to that next swap Calibogue

The reason is I cut a hook shank off and use it as a platform for tying in materials. The rattle is a glass rattle tied onto the full hook. From their I tie on the strait hook shank which I then use to build the head of the shrimp. I want the head to extend slightly past the hook bend (see side profile pic), thus necessitating the use of a shank as a platform. A hook shank works best because the eye ensures the material will not slid off, unlike a straight metal shank without a enlarged end.
