Headed to sw banks yesterday. Ran out 42mph in the flatest seas i’ve seen this year. trolled all around there in scattered weeds and flyers, but nothing to show for it. picked up and headed south and found a nice little weed line in 270ft. Decided to take crackers advice from an earlier post this year and pulled up next to the line and started chunkin. That’s when it got fun. It was like fishin in a barrell. They were all peanuts but 3 of us caught about 70 little dolphin. It was so fun. I decided i would try catch 100 of em but I finally quite after 40 fish. All small fish but it was fun. Most were released unharmed but we kept 15 and those were the ones that were injured in battle. We ran in through dewees inlet and missed the bad part of that storm.
A great day.
Good to hear. We saved a couple of days doing the same thing. Thats a great way to get rid of old ballyhoo, and make sure you bring squid. It’s surprising to see how hook shy some of the bigger dolphin can be.
Good deal… glad y’all did well… I did not invent that method or anything, but have used it many times and it commonly works…
This is not a chawade…
We need total concentwation…
That is real fun especially on light tackle. I keep a couple of inshore rigs on board just for that. Of course sometimes something eats what you were catching and it isn’t fun anymore.
