I have an old 35 evinrude that sputters when it pees. Pees fine when given throttle but not in idle. Pump or impeller maybe? I would like to swap this out myself if its easy enough.
Could be partially blocked fitting on motor. Pull hose loose and let it hang while idling and see what happens. Get you a manual and follow directions for water pump impeller. Not that bad of a job.

Thanks for the info, tried the fitting but will look at it again. Might just go with the penicilin

Pull hose from fitting on motor and run again. Run a piece of wire back and forth through hose. Probably have a restriction between engine and outside fitting.

The pisser on my 15hp stings my hand and the pisser on my 115hp cuts the surface on my concrete driveway. You have to have GOOD water flow.
The impeller is the pump…its ‘driven’ by the shaft down in the foot while the motor is on
If the impeller is less than 2 years old I’d do what carolinacoot said. If more than 2 years old it need to be changed out anyway.
i would have to say waterpump as a first place to start if you have tried cleaning the pee tube

Here in the Upstate we get mud dabbers clogging up the pee-hole/tube; I’m not sure where you’re located, but that could be part or all of the problem.
Or it could be a penicillin-resistant strain------May need to go with a stronger antibiotic
