I have a Penn 4400SS reel that need some love.
However, I cannot seem to get the mail gear out. It is hung on the eccentric shaft. I took out the screw on the back of the shaft but no help.
Input needed…
Thank you.

If you meant the “Main” gear 8N. More than likely just stuck in the bearing #20. With the cap off (233) you may have to tap it out of the frame, the bearing may go with it.
If you have taken #16 out, pulled lever 6E off. I would remove the liner 6B. Shaft 6A “should” come out.
Sounds like you got a bit of salt/corrosion in there, makes small parts stick together worse than glue. Good ol’ WD40 is your friend here. Get some PENN Reel Oil, great stuff…best thing PENN has EVER made…IMO.
For grease, I use Evinrude Blue grease, will not wash out, repels water.
I’ve got a few reels with 10 years of hard surf fishing still running like new.

6D is what looks to be holding the back gear on the main gear.
I cannot get the 6D to come out. Guess it’s time to soak it with WD40 or something.?

Soaked 6D and then it pushed out the front–with some pressure.
It had a bur on it. No idea how that got there.
The grease inside was brownish and solid in places.
Will reassemble with BelRay water proof(Blue Gel). Works really well.\Thanks
