Looking at getting some new rod/reels. Thinking Penn Legion inshore rods. Has anybody used these yet? If so, thoughts?

I have a couple of Battles, a 3000 and a 4000. Super-smooth drag, and you don’t have to mortgage the house to pay for them. I’m actually about to get a 1000 or 2000 for trout. In other words, I’d highly recommend them.
I have a Battle 4000 on a Shimano Voltaeus rod both of which I really like but, am interested in pairing the battle with a Legion rod as well. Waiting to hear some ■■■■■■■■ from someone that has one.
I have both a Penn Battle 4000 and a Penn Sargus 4000 and they are exceptional quality reels for the money. Haven’t tried their rods…I like the Berkley lightning rods…cheap and durable.
Going to give them a try. I will post a review on them after a couple months of use.

I have both as a combo and I love it.
Three-fourths of the Earth’s surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

I just bought a battle 3000 on a 7’ legion xtra fast action but I haven’t had time to use it.

Well I finally broke the new rod in and it is by far the best rod I have used. I caught a fat 27in red with it and I truly am impressed. It has a lot of backbone for being so sensitive.

What model did you buy? Trying to convince myself that I need one.
Its the 7’ xtra fast action. Its paired up to a penn battle 3000. To me its the perfect combo.

I bought two of those combos and also bought two Battle 6000’s with the m/h 7’ rod. Can’t wait to get them salty. Will be next weekend before I can since I unfortunately have to go to Maryland this weekend.

Love the combos! Great action! Can feel everything with them! Cast smoothly too. Higly recommend. Now about to buy a conventional setup for live bait bottom fishing.

I just got a Legion rod a few weeks ago to pair up with a Battle 4000. I have only caught a few small BSB’s on it and have not been able to use it since then as the handle broke on my Battle. Waiting for a new one to come in. I “think” I am going to like the combo though.
shimano stratic fi 3000 reel and shimano teramara rod by far great for anything from trout to huge reds my favorit tailin reds
Great combo also. Almost went with that one, but decided to try something different.

I’ve got a battle 4000, I actually like my 550g better… and like my trusty old daiwa SS tourny even better, much smoother IMHO
I also like the reverse feature of other reels, not sure why penn got rid of that but I use it often.
unless there’s something wrong with mine and I don’t know it I won’t be looking for another battle, it whines and isn’t near as smooth as I expected
