Penn model 9 reels--- best uses?

Hi all–new guy here, been lurking awhile. Some bluewater time, been fishing FW a long time.

Wondering what might be some good fishing uses for Penn 9M’s on 7’ rods (MH 12-25# 3/4-1 1/2 oz.) off Carolinas?? probably inshore/nearshore, jetties, wrecks…

Could these be decent rigs for trolling for spanish? livelining?
or best kept for light bottom/cutbait fishing for sheeps/reds?

Appreciate any advice/ideas on good uses, lines/rigs, etc.
I have other setups for bigger fishes and for creeks, so could use these for specific techniques, not trying to make them ‘all-rounders’, but if they are, it’s good to know that, too!

Thanks and hope ya’ll will keep me!

I’ve used mine with 30# line for over 30 years trolling for kings & dolphin, live baiting for kings and cobia, and for shark in the 3 to 7 foot range. Have thought about going to braided 50# test for live baiting tarpon. Mine have accidentally seen sailfish and wahoo over the years. I love them and they seem to last forever.

Edit: I pulled mine out today and they are really old. They look closer to and have capacity of today’s 309M.

Thanks, misslily! Dang, that is impressive! I thought the 9M’s might be too light for that, but I bow to your experience and expertise! So given that, what the heck do i use my 209’s and TLD15’s for…livelining reds for bullsharks up in CherryGrove??

This nearshore/harbor/bay thang is new to me, but over the years I’ve picked up some decent tackle in planning to get there. For now, I won’t be fishing the salt hard…just trying to put it all to best use.

They’re good for flounder off the piers. Drop straight down, set the clicker and wait. I’ve caught flounder and black drum that way.

I’d rather fish than eat.
