If you are thinking about shark fishing from the surf, there is no more affordable combo. The SSV 8500 comes with 65lb Power Pro. The OM is a true 8+ bait rods. You can absolutely launch an entire whiting with 4-8oz of lead past the 2nd or 3rd bar. There is enough line capacity to handle any sharks we have in Charleston from 6’ blacktips, 7’ Lemons, or 8-9’ Tigers. The sandbars have been thick lately and there is plenty of time to whoop a few more before winter comes.
Red fishing? No problem. Get a 80-100lb Southern Stingray on the line? Boss him on in, 10 minutes max.
