Went bottom bumping Tuesday w/ a great crew. First time I have tried the pink and white jigs on the bottom. They worked great to my surprise. We also had some pinfish and mullet we were able to get before leaving in hopes of getting on the grouper. Headed out to y73 area, got there about 9. Fished hard till around 2. 95 to 100 ft 27 trigger, 28 big beliners. Never have seen them this big, they had green on their heads and a big lump on their foreheads like big black sea bass get. 8 big black bass, 9 joltheads, and 2 dolphin caught on live mullet. Both dolphin were decent size around 17 - 20 lbs. Great day on the water, slicked out on the way home. Made it 32 miles in 50 minutes
Very well done. I have not tried live mullet off shore before but I am glad to hear that it worked out for you. Did you anchor up current of the y73 and fish directly on top of it? When I dove on that wreck a few weeks ago I saw nothing but sardines and amberjack.

No we weren’t right on the wreck. I have some good live bottom marked a few miles from there. that’s the first time I’ve tried the mullet too, the pinfish were more productive but the triggerfish were all over those mullet using small offset circle hooks.
