Change your ringtone? If that doesn’t work, go to your phone service and make them fix it for you

“Phone rings only one time?”

Your phone is being tapped.

If this is your cell phone, there’s a lot of ringtones that only ring once.

And definitely follow Cam’s advice, go after your service provider. Especially if it’s your landline.

It is the computer generated calls for telemarketers. They call several numbers at once and when someone picks up it goes with that call for telemarketer to do his thing.

No anyone that calls the phone rings one time and goes to dial tone.

If this is a land line phone, it is a condition called trip ringing, caused by a fault in the cable somewhere. Water or corrosion inside a phone jack or splice, sometimes bugs get in there. It changes the impedance of the circuit and fools the ringing voltage into thinking the phone has been lifted off hook. The problem could be in any jack on the circuit, or at the interface box between your house wiring and the phone company.

Checked the box outside and found spider webs.

Take your phone to the interface box outside, plug into test jack and call to see if it will ring correctly. If so trouble is inside the house.,

^^^ Correct.

Hopefully it was the wet spider webs. If not, the problem is probably in a interior jack. This is very common problem for homes built near salt water, especially the jacks on exterior walls or outdoors. The little connections inside the jacks turn green with corrosion.

Larry, that also happens with car fans around here (HVAC blowers).

Both my truck’s and my car’s HVAC blower quit working a couple weeks apart. The brushes and contacts were really tarnished.

Last night I pulled my car’s blower out and scuffed all the tarnish off with 320g sandpaper and put it back together, now it works like a champ. Going to attempt it on the truck next week.
