i’m going to lift my 90hp merc up a couple of holes on the transom of my hightide. the last time i lifted a motor it was an older johnson that had a lifting ring on top of the powerhead,though this merc isn’t equipped like that. i know there is a hook that screws into the flywheel in order to lift it, but is there an alternative option to pick it up without having to buy this hook for a one time job? i have a forklift so the weight is a nonissue.
I just did this today. In the neighbors yard under his tree. Thought I had permission but he was a bit surprised to see my boat backed up in his hard. Raised my 90hp 2strk two holes. Now I’m turning 5500-5600, 38 mph. 14% slip rate. Better, but I still think I need a 19 or a 17 with a little cup. The search goes on.
