  2. that thing you get just moments after you needed it.

Yeah man. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now and finally pulled the trigger this past winter. should be a little easier than standing on a cooler.

Just curious to how your boat handles the extra weight and stability when you are polling? I have similiar setup reason asking.

Well…i can’t answer the poling question from the platform because i haven’t bought the pole yet. …but it’s very stable when standing on it and i haven’t noticed very much at all from the added weight stand point. (it’s only about 30lbs) I have my gas can in the front of the boat with the gas line running down the side and i bought the yeti cooler straps to put the cooler up front trying to get more weight up forward. Before the platform i had a 10ft wooden rod and stood on a cooler. Interested to see how much of a difference the poling platform and pole will make.

Looks like those pictures were taken at EMC, Ed Forbes’ place.

Did you fab the platform? I could be interested in a similar addition. Looks great…

Yeah, It was at Ed’s shop Bob. I saw you in traffic last Sunday and gave you a yell. You had a “who the **** was that” look…LOL

That is sweet looking! Is that powder coated or paint?

That’s a sweet rig, man. Pardon my ignorance, but how do you eliminate leaks from the holes drilled in the transom for the bottom screws?

“I’m not a hundred percent in love with your tone right now…”

3M 5200 Marine adhesive sealant. Best stuff ever made. It will cure underwater. It can be a bear to remove parts after it’s cured. I’ve seen it rip off gel coat and fiberglass. I bought a fresh tube last week and the guy at West Marine said “You know that’s permanent, right?” That is somewhat true, but there are a couple of tricks I’ve learned over the years that make removal a little less painful.

ECU…it’s powder coated. Obviously didn’t powder coat the top due to heat. Bart…the bolts in the transom are through bolted and we just put marine caulk in between the plates on both sides of the transom. I don’t think water leaking in will ever be much of a problem. It’s sealed up pretty good.

How about making one for a 15’ whaler?

Three-fourths of the Earth’s surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Thanks for all the compliments on the platform guys. Waiting to get my sheet of aluminum so PalmettoTrooper can rebuild the deck on the front for it next.

For personal clarification, built this? SmilingBob or Palmetto? i ask because my father just purchased a key west 1720, not the pro model, but still wanted to get him in the air somehow on the transom. he likes to be on the water and im the one who likes to fish, so i figured i could get him to push me around if i got the platform
