I have just gotten back from three days of fishing in the Park and on the Little Pigeon River - west prong. I have to say that it went very well. I fished the LPR in the mornings and my wife and I would hike in the afternoons in the Park. I caught some small rainbows and hooked into two large bows - one 16" and one right at 19". We kept the 16" and that is going to be in my Belly tonight. Both fish were very heavy for the length. I caught both on a bright orange and black wooly bugger fished right on the bottom in a very fast and deep run. All of the other rainbows were caught on small nymphs and soft hackles at different depths. We hike the Alum Cave trail in the park and it ran along a stretch of headwater that I could fish for native brookies. There was a guide giving a few guys some time on the water and they were stalking trout and weren’t really catching anything after watching them. We hiked the trail and I took my 3wt along to hit little pockets on the way back from the trail. I caught two nice 8" to 9" brookies and the colors were great. I handed my rod over to the wife for the first time and she caught a nice little trout also. She really enjoy the beauty of the fish. We caught the brookies on size 24 trico with 7x tippet.
