Pioneer 197SF & Trolling Motor

I can forward it to you if you want to PM your email address to me. I built one according to his specs and mounted it on my boat, only to discover that the Ulterra would hit the hull of my boat when stowing itself. So…the bracket pictured above is a modified version that sticks further out than the Pioneerowner guy’s. I had to use trial and error and build another one out of wood just to confirm that the Ulterra would clear before building another one out of aluminum. Expensive project altogether. You could take a look at both and decide which will work better for you. If you have a 72" you might consider making a plate that gives some more support around the puck (instead of just having the puck stick out on its own like mine). ChrisV’s bracket would accomplish this to some extent as there is a margin of bracket around the puck that provides some support to the bottom of the bracket that hooks into the puck. You could build one like mine that also has a margin, and make it out of 5/8" aluminum (mine is 1/2") and use heavier hardware and probably not bounce your $1,600 toy off into the harbor.

I have sold the Ulterra due to the size of the mount. I bought the Terrova 72" 36v 112#. My email is FirefighterJ80@gmail.com if you wouldn’t mind sending me the specs on that bracket. Thank you. Also, where did you mount your batteries? Will 3 group 31s go in the center console? I didn’t want to have to worry about the added weight causing cracks in the floor of it.

I’ll email the specs of the bracket from the Pioneerowners site. I put my 3 batteries side by side in the front of the console (the higher part, not the bottom floor) and mounted a strip across the front to keep them from sliding backwards and falling onto the floor. My boat is the Islander, not Sportfish, but I think the console is the same.

I heard back from minn kota, and yes, rta-54 is recommended for that motor
