Barron’s in Columbia does a great job and is fast. They have repaired several reels for me.

I do ambassadors and penns on the side. I do not care for the corvalus. I would bet money your problem is in the level wind. Corvalus reels have a bad design in that department. Do a quick search on them and u will find its a common problem with these reels and their freespool.

Stay with the tried and true “Sweden made” reels from Abu Garcia. A kalex is nothing more than a fancy bcx with a carbon drag and an extra bearing or 2. The bcx and kalex say “engineered in Sweden” but are made in China.

Not telling u what to do with your money…lol…the black and gold does look pretty good but just not my cup of tea.
Another option for a good quality reel is the old Abu 6000’s. They don’t make them anymore but are on ebay a good bit. If you take your time and watch for them and look them over the best u can, u can find some good ones. I never pay more than 55$ for them. Shipping usually runs 5$, so 60$ total. Picked one up couple weeks ago for 30$. Some will get run up by the seller I am sure, lol some will go 70-85$ and that’s just too much.
If you go this route though you need to be able to go through the reels to clean and service them. Some are like New others are nasty. They are technically a C2 but for around 6$ u can buy the bearing that will make them a C3. In order to make it a C4 you will have to add a bearing in the level wind and its just not worth it. I honestly don’t think making them into 3’s are worth it. I can cast both the same distance. But unless you cut bait A LOT do you really cast enough to warrant a super smooth 4 bearing reel? And remember in the abu’s one of those bearings has nothing to do with casting or freespool smoothness. They count the anti reverse bearing in the handle assembly as a bearing.
Also look at it this way. Once one of those bearings in the spool goes bad in a C3/4 the reels still work fine and you will never know its froze cause it will still act the same. Once its bad it pretty much turns into a bushing like what is in the 6000’s.
Sorry for the long winded reply, but enjoy talking about reels.I love buying nasty Abu’s cheap and fixing them, kinda like another hobby my wife hates.
