Looks like the sun/wind/temp will be warming up later in the week and thinking of trying for the reds at Copahee. My plan is heading out after work (2pm) and looking for them after the sun has warmed the mud. In my amatuer/novice opinion, the tides look right:question:.
Shooting for Wed-Friday… anyone want to join me? Might bring the flyrod…
I was planning on hitting southern bulls Wed, but i the wind is bad i will go over to the wando. You might run into tide issues though on wed. You are welcome to join. I will be trying to fish Copahee sat though. Thats right guys, I am off on a Sat!!!
The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. </font id=“size2”>

Btw, how the **** do i get the rods out of the hobie drive to install the new fins??? Also, if you are working tues i need to get something to put the yak on the gfs car since the truck is still broke.

The old style have a small retaining “Screw” with a hex head. Simply use a allen wrench to remove the holding screw, and they should pull right out.
The newer ones (2009 model) simple screw into the base…
If you are only replacing the fins though, I would simply remove the split ring and retaining pin where they attach at the top (Non shaft), and slide them off… Then slide the new ones on the shaft and re-attach the pin and split ring.
Hope this helps…
Those who can’t fish, spend too much on seafood!

I wish it did but i am replacing them with turbo fins and they have a different shaft. I am still trying to figure out how to get those things out without breaking them.

The shafts are the same depending on the year make.
Right up where the shaft meets the base, there should be a small set screw that requires a allen head wrench to remove. Once it is out, the shaft pulls right out (Unless possibly corroded in place…)
If no set screw, than a newer self tapping base (Stainless rod into a brass base), which could simply be corroded together. Use some vie grips and wd 40 on the connection, and it should back out.
Note: All of the above is based on my personal experience with both types… If there is a third type, I am unaware of it… COntact the HOBIE forums for extra guidance if needed.

Well we got there about 3pm and the water was still really low, could barely get out. I saw 3 fish total with no bites, but worth it seeing Dave reel in a 30" red standing up. With the tide being lower at 3pm tomorrow and Friday… thinking of Bushy on Friday instead of Copahee.
Good job DD!
Thanks
