I haven’t done it, but I would think you should be able find a way to mount the little glow sticks that snap on to a rod tip for nite fishing. I believe they last at least a few hrs. I think they are pretty cheap, so it wouldn’t cost much to give it a try.
We have done it and tried to use the lights off the t top to help see them but for the most part just watch the rod, we use circle hooks and the fish will hook themselves
get some D.O.T.approved reflective tape -i get mine from lowes-dont know how your boards are shaped but i put a strip across the top of mine and they will show up 100 ft away from the boat with nothing but the stern light on - its just enough of a flicker to keep an eye on their position-BTW the red shows up better than the silver

thanks for the input. the boards i have would be perfect for a 2" wide tape. 1" along the vertical and 1" along the horizontal. we could always keep them a little closer to the boat than usual which should help.

water bugzz.they have some type of foam on them.i use glow sticks on mine.got them off ebay.they are the size of a pencil.lay them long ways across the top and use half apaper clip to hold them on.kind a like useing a staple.you will be able to see them up to about 25 yards.and can follow the fish with out using a bright light that draws the SKEETERS. i’ll try and post a picture if needed.trying to get everything ready for vacation.solid week of saltwater.
we used the tape. i think on a night with a moon it would be perfect. with solid rain for 4 hours on a no-moon night it only helped if the led headlamp was pointing at it. still much better than no tape. thanks for the tip

sorry it didnt work out that great for yall – one thing i might add is that i make my own boards and designed them to pull out parrallel to the boat -guess i get a better reflection from them – i can see how it might not work as well when they run behind the boat – so did yall catch any fish using them at night? - i’m giving it a try tomorrow pm - going to try to put santeecarl on a couple nice uns
we only caught two stripers and a big crappie that ate a 4" herring. We launched out of Scott’s Ferry and fished around there. We never really found a concentration of fish.
met up with santeecarl wed pm put in at scotts ferry and ran over to keg creek and pulled planers till bout 11–picked up 3 nice fish between 9# and 14#- missed a few more pull downs and had a great time over all -think i got carl hooked on the hill and planers -water temp is getting up there quickly- was around 78 to 82 -2 weeks ago it was 68 - still some nice fish around for now but not sure how much longer they can stand the heat before heading north
i’ve noticed that the larger fish seem to head up there - you can still catch your limit of hydrid and short stripes down by the dam -dont think the heat affects them as much- maybe when they put the oxygenation system in this will change some but i’m not sure when that is going to be completed-from what i’ve been told clarks hill stratifies very quickly when it gets warm and there is no oxygen below about 35’ - i’m sure all of them dont go up but i’ve never had much luck at the bottom of the lake when it gets hot - maybe somebody that knows more of the specifics on this can post and help us out
