I know this is a striper forum but you guys know more about this. Has anyone ever tried pulling planer boards inshore for Redfish and Spec trout?
My Wife and I have actually talked about how we can’t wait to get back down to Florida and drag Pinfish and Shrimp down the docks and Mangrove lines with planers … I think planers will work especially well in skinny water up around the mangroves where fish spook easily by the boat shadows … We’ll let you know how it works out when we try it in a few weeks …
… it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish !!!

Please do, I was thinking about heading to Charleston and drag some Manhaden around on some boards. Finally got me a riptide Co-pilot and itching to get out and use it since it’s the striper are starting to go deep.
The waterbugz website gives examples of using them down on the coast. They say they work really well out around the jetties. And I imagine you could make a sweet spread targeting spanish with them.

The water is always too rough at the jetties when I go down. I fish the Wando and Stono most of the time. Havent really been able to get on the reds that good but the trout are usually a given. When I get me a bigger boat I’m going to make it out to the jetties and beyond.
