I know the planer boards are the most popular, but have any of you used the fairly new Redi Rig planer floats yet? I am looking for something to get just a little more spread with my lines but not sure I want to learn how work boards yet. I only run 3 rods, 1 each side and 1 straight bag. Boat is too small to get enough anglers on board to help navigate, bait, and reel in fish so I am trying to K.I.S.S.
I use a redi rig float and they work great. Someone passed one around at a MSC meeting. Seemed like it would work just fine. But they work just like a board, so learning one would be the same as the other. Really nothing to using planers. You hook them on a freeline, drop them in, let out some line and when the slack is gone they pull out from the boat.
Thanks, I broke down and ponied up the dough and got a set of boards from Richard today. Along with a pair of release floats. We’ll see how they do this afternoon.
