what are yalls suggestions for planers capable of pulling 12 to 16" trout – have tried the yellow offshore boards and some homemade cedar boards but when the trout want to they can pull those around --getting ready for the big fish time of year and i would like to pull trout on planers instead of just being on the redirigs straight out back–also dont want anything so heavy i have to change gear to use them–prob only looking to buy 2 to put on the outside of my spread so i can get to the shallows with them without spooking the bigguns
I like the bait to be able to pull the board around. It causes commotion/more attention to the bait. But that being said x2 on the redneck boards richy has. I have switched over to these to get the distance from the boat I want. Before, I was using waterbugz with the same size bait you are talking about using.

murrymaker-- i can see your point with the commotion but a lot of times pulling a 6 board spread like i do i have trouble with them getting tangled if they move around too much–ive noticed the trout normally behave behind them until something spooks em-and thats usually a bad time to have tangles!plus i would like something that really gets on out beside the boat–have no problems with the shad --just the trout that seem to overpower the boards
I’m sure the Rednecks are great. However, not trying to be a “buzzkiller,” trout are illegal for bait on Murray. You can only legally use them on the Savannah chain lakes.
Fogman. No problem. I fish russell n the hill.havent been on murray in 10 yrs-last time i was there i lost a board nclouds crk due to a skeeter bass boat
