I thought about trying some planner boards, but I don’t know anything about them. What type do yall use, how do you use them, and what type of lures do you pull with them? I fish a 18’ bay so no downriggers. Thanks for any info.
I found some called water bugs and they are great. These are side planers that do great pulling blue back herring. I always use bait, but I’m sure they would pull a Rapala ok. Sideplaners are typically used when the fish are shallow, which is right now. They should remain in this pattern for another month or so.
This is the guy that makes waterbugz and if you make an offer he’ll probably come back with a $25 counteroffer. I bought 2 pair and they do work great. I have pulled Repala and Rebel deep divers with them as well as live bait.
I’d rather fish than eat.

if you don’t want to wait on them being shipped to you, lake world sales the waterbugz. i believe they are 20 something for a set there. and richard will give a quick how to use them if you need it…lol…i thought i new how to use them till i got out there the first time with them…lol…they fish well at night with a little help frome a couple zip ties and glow stick. they really show up good at night like this and the stick and ties don’t affect the running of the boards.
and if your talking about the ones that dive down. sportsmans warehouse is starting to restock all their shelves and have 4 different sizes in two styles. 2 plastic lip styles and 2 dipsy diver styles. and they also have those big yellow ones that cost an arm and a leg for side planars.
Great! Thanks for the input. I’ll probally swing by Lake World and check them out.
