Pliers

I need to buy a new pair of pliers and am just curious to see ya’lls favorite pair of pliers. I have been looking at all of the following Orvis Aluminum Saltwater Pliers, Orvis Hydros Aluminum Pliers, Ross Pescador Pliers, P-Line Adaro Pliers, The Abel Pliers. If anyone has anyone of those, how do you like them? If you have another pair that are very good then let me know what they are.

I have Van Staals and like them a lot!!! Never have had an issue with them 3 yrs now. Very pricey though!

I HAVE SPENT MOST OF MY LIFE FISHING AND WASTED THE REST OF IT!

I just get new pairs of Calcutta or Walmart brand pliers every once in a while. Chances are, if I spent the money ont he high dollar ones, I’d lose them, leave them in someone’s boat or drop them in the water. With the cheap ones, doing any of the afformentioned things won’t hurt me to bad, jst a few bucks for another brand new set

Somebody told us Wall Street fell but we were so poor we couldn’t tell. Cotton was short and the weeds were tall but Mr. Obama gonna save us all

I have the Abel pliers that I have been using for 5-6years with no problems. I would buy them again.

van stall stainless pliers. not as much as the titanium but work just as well. abel’s are nice too.

strip…strip…FISH ON!

Just looked at a pair of Vann whatevas…
All I can say is…

WOW![:0]
I had no idea.

Fishing on the bottom is like having sex with the lights turned off. It feels good… but I wanna see it.

I got a pair of Field and Stream ones, pretty (**() good so far. Been using them since last winter and only have 3, if that, rust spots. Not rusting, just dis-colored areas. But if I had to get another pair, I’d go with what Rapchick said. Just get a cheapo pair so its not a big loss if you mess em up

they may be expensive as ■■■■■, but I have used these for 3+ years and have only had to service them once. I think it(the service) was 30 or so dollars to have van stall service them but it is well worth it. You will never buy another pair, they can’t be broken…

I have these Browning pliers from basspro and love them. Had them for 4 years now and have never had an issue with them. No rust and the cutters are still very sharp. Cut anything from wire, braid, mono etc. You can even replace the cutting blades if they do get dull. They are great pliers and are only $50. Sometimes basspro has them on sale for $25-$30.

bought a pr. of Donmar stainless(CP950) from Melton Tackle 11yrs. ago.

replaceable tungsten-carbide blades are very sharp.will cut mono, braid, wire.have forgotten to wash, rinse before and pliers have yet to rust, pit,or corrode.

5 yr. warranty

purchase a good case/sheath and you will be surprised how well you keep up with your pliers.my good friend made one for me outta gator hide, the diamond pattern near the foot.

I second the sheath and ALWAYS clip the lanyard on to you. can’t tell you how many times i would have watched my van stalls sink to the bottom without it

FWIW, My VS titaniums arrived from Cabela’s just today. They were on sale, about 1/3 off. Look forward to leaving pliers on my boat knowing they’ll always be functional the next trip and next season.

i have the brownings from bp too .$25 3 yrs ago.bought replacement blades last month for about $6.havn’t put them on.that being said,my next pair will be ross’.more money but have heard nothing but good things.

I’ve had 2 of these in about 4 years and usually fish about 180-210 days a year. Spray them with WD, Corrosion X, T9…whatevers on hand. I can’t see spending $$ on a pair of pliers.

I have also had a pair of the Browning pliers for 3 years or so and they are still great except that teh rubber on the handles has started to come off.

I got a pair of aluminum pliers from Atlantic Game& Tackle. No brand name on them. They have the replaceable cutting blades, and come with a nylon sheath and lanyard. No complaints and cost was about $60.00

Van $tall$ -holy crap–I had no idea these were this expensive—I found a pair at the shem creek boat landing a couple of years ago and just threw them in the tool box on my truck. Guess I shoulda shown em a little more love! I also have the bass pro brownings and I think they are great-and a great price. I just cant see spending $$$$$ for pliers-how much cutting are you guys doing?

21 ANGLER -( QUICK FIX )

I have the Ross pescador, bought used at Cabela’s bargain bin for ~$35. The cutters were broken, so I replaced them and they’ve been going strong for 2 years. I can’t say enough about them except that I wish I would have purchased them fifteen years ago.
