Went fishing solo for the first time in about a year. I’ve had some back issues that have made me nervous about going solo, and my new boat (which I love) doesn’t trailer kindly, which doesn’t lend to a wounded back. But things have gotten better.
Alone on the water - one of my favorite things. I crept a creek at low tide as far as it would take me. I was close to the end and stopped. It was perfect.
You couldn’t smell the mud. It absorbed you. The scent was so thick you had to chew the air to breathe! And I was all by myself - soaking in it! Nothing but grass, scent and silence.
I layed back slathering in it for nearly 1/2 hour and went back to fishing. Wound up with about 15 trout. I had mud minnows and some perfect 3" mullet, but they wanted something moving. Most trout caught on a green/cream curly tail grub and the trout trick. They wanted something moving.

Even tossed the TT in the cooler. They catch EVERYTHING!
I hope you threw that Bud Light back for breeding stock. You shouldn’t be keeping those, you know there are a lot of guides that let their customers keep a full bag limit, every day. Fishing like that will just deplete the population.
Man I love me some pluff mudd! I’m going to make some perfume for REAL southern girls and make it smell like fresh pluff mudd and marsh grass…with just a hint of salt water in it! Mmmmmmm. Maybe name it “southern waters”…or “creek side”. Haha…but really…I love the smell of the mudd and marsh…
Glad you got put there today…but …where we’re your fishing buddies?

At home, getting their Christmas on! Tree was up and decorated beautiful and stockings hung. Outside is next. That requires me:frowning_face:.
Not sure I would want to snuggle with pluff mud, but maybe a Glade plug in for my office! Or a Little Tree for the truckster!
I have had a few days like that myself Vin. Kind of nice to spend a little alone time. Pause, reflect and just chill. The quiet is the best thing. Sounds like your Christmas routine is the same as mine. I bring the tree in and then step aside. I do all the outside stuff too. Glad you had a good day.
Yep, Mama aint doin too good. Her needs come before mine right now so going to load up the boat and head out there for a undetermined amount of time at this point. Tough decision to make for sure, but as I said, her needs outweigh my desires right now.

Glad to see you didn’t let your injury stop a good day of fishing. I had a left hip replacement nearly 16yrs go and it’s very painful at times but once I get that feel of a tight line all pains gone until it’s time to trailer that seafox. nice pixs
Vinman, As I look at those pix’s you were in front of me and as you go further up it gets shallow and the small creek to your right I’ve caught a few nice flounders. We’ll tip a cold one next time around.Hightide in that creek is pretty rewarding because it gives the trouts a safe haven to run deep off those banks and a bunch of pockets to ambush prey. Not that productive for big fish but it’s fun catching the little fellows and the small blue fish tears up the tails of that ringer worm in the summer. Got you mow!
