Plumbing a bait well

I have a side mounted, gravity fed (below the water level thru-hull opening) bait tank/livewell on my 14’ skiff. It’s located about mid boat. I’m trying to figure a way to add a pump and drain to keep fresh water going into and out of the baitwell. I could plumb an inlet line from the rear drain into the well and then plumb an outlet into the drain. However being below the waterline may require more hydrostatic pressure than I can generate to drain. Any ideas on what I might try? Thanks.

Lol. That works too. I have also thought about keeping the plug in and using the space for dry storage. That little boat lacks storage for tackle and such. Hey!!! When we goin fishin Smily???

TexasRed,

All you need is a livewell pump plumbed into the outside of the well at the bottom to drain the water out. As water is pump out, gravity will take care of continuosly replenishing with new water through the hull fitting. To pump out the well just plug the the thru-hull fitting.

Forgot to mention that you will probably need to choke the flow of the pump with a valve to match the flow of water gravitating into the well. Outflow of the pump could be routed overboard with a thruhull in the side above the waterline or the bottom with a valve, siphon break, or loop to prevent siphoning back into the well.
