PM vs AM shrimping

Hey guys, Greetings!! Long time member here returning after 10 years in TX … Loved this site when I was living in Mt. P! … Was wanting to get some ■■■■■■■■ from some of you “seasoned” (or otherwise) shrimpers regarding best time to shrimp, whether it’d be day or night. I have shrimped the Charleston waters (mostly north) 10 years ago with alot of luck at night. Cant say I’ve ever gone in the day unless the sun caught me out very early in the AM!

Would love to hear some opinions, Thanks! Great to be back in Carolina!!

Bulls Bay is the only place I know of that people have any luck during the day, but it hasn’t been producing for me at all this year. I don’t think it’s been a banner season so far to say the least.

I’ve never been at night. I’ve haven’t left with less than half a cooler in 3 years. Went last Saturday and the spot I was at they shut off after dark. However, I never go early am usually around lunch time or later.

Daytime no if and or buts, faster and more enjoyable. When you bring that net in and the pocket is full of 100 to 150 shrimp , nothing beats it!

I like to shrimp at night around a full moon and in the daytime around a new moon. Both can be equally good, or bad, as the case may be, but I’ve been doing it a long time and that pattern works best for me.

Note that I don’t use bait, just free casting or deep holing.

You have to be in a spot with muddy water to do any good in the daytime no matter where it is.
If water is nice and clear you won’t have much luck before the sun gets close to the tree tops near sunset.
If water is dingy and it’s overcast it sometimes works as well.

The tide change is your friend at Bulls for daytime shrimping and water clarity. Has not failed me in 20 years. Bet the farm on it
