poacher

Now I have a brazen poacher on my property. I found a nice new ground blind set up with bottle of scentAway, empty bag of chips. It takes balls to place a ground blind on someone else’s property

Question, did you or did you not take the blind as collateral??? “Corn” Chips may be the next thing as deer attractant!!!

ONe thing for sure, you’re poacher is planning on coming back. Cameras.

I’ve had that happen. Was a nice tree stand. I removed it and put out a note. I stated that this is private property with cameras set up… If you want your stand back please call me at … Next time I will turn your picture over to DNR.

Put out lots of signs and a few “cheap” cameras followed by better ones hidden well. Found some signs stating “this Property under Surveillance” Contact DNR and let them know what’s going on.

It’s amazing how brazen some people are. Do you have any close by neighbors that would be willing to look out for activity? If not just asking around and telling people what you have found may get the word out that people are not welcome on your property.

Hide a camera somewhere nearby to get some pictures of the poacher. After you’ve captured a few pics, go back in, take down the ground blind and leave the poacher a note saying you have his blind and his picture. One (the blind) will be available for pick-up if he comes to you and the other (the pictures) will be turned over to the authorities. Chances are, you’ll never hear from him or see him again AND you come out with a new blind. Win-Win!

A note and a pic, seriously??? If he waits a little bit longer he may be able to pull a few more items from this guy and post them for sale on CF.com, CL, and FB and be able to turn a profit and cover his corn feed bill. I say wait 3 more days and capitalize on his mistake $$$$$

Yes, seriously. The note is more of a calling card and it lets him know he’s been busted and you have his blind. Like I said, in the note you let them know you have their picture and you’re going to the authorities. The pictures go to law enforcement to get this guy charged. What so hard to understand about that?

How exactly would one “capitalize on his mistake” in this particular situation?

Good call Bang! I agree. Let him have a few days of worry while the LEO’s sort things out and he might learn a lesson. I wouldn’t want his stuff. Its probably stolen

FYI, if you haven’t caught him “harvesting” any game then he isn’t poaching. That is what the law calls trespassing…where is the pop"corn" when you need it!!! I think anybody interested in buying your property off this site may shy away from it now that it is being littered with “corn” chip bags and ground blinds. DHEC may not let that slide if continued for an extended period of time. Maybe perhaps it is just a random inexperienced hunter that accidentally put his blind up past the property line by mistake??? No harm done if he is just a mo-ron with a cellphone that couldn’t get any reception on the adjacent property. Can’t hunt in the woods any more without updating your FB page every 5 minutes. By the way, those of you that took the bait on my last post made me chuckle…seriously…hook, line, and sinker!

Let me be the first to call BS on the above^^^^^^ You baited no one - you were wrong - Seriously. poor walk back.

Hunting another mans property is a license revocation and a $500 fine. Very serious. Trespassing could be described as walking across the property unarmed. Not so serious.

Show me the DNR law concerning “poaching”. There’s not one. There is a law concerning trespassing to hunt. If your in the woods on someone else’s property with a weapon & ammo , That’s trespassing to hunt. And the ticket price goes way up if the LEO adds the words “game taken” or “weapon discharged”

I took his seat. DNR is going out there today. My neighbor thinks he knows where the guy got onto my property. I left the blind there, but knocked it down. I hope he tries to take it away or put it back up which will give my cameras a better chance of getting him.
How can someone be that stupid? If you are going to hunt someone else’s prop wouldn’t you think they would use a climber?

Hunting, fishing, and poker are my sports. Work when necessary.

Who said anything about turning him in for “poaching”???

In your attempt to walk back your previous comment while maintaining your smartassedness, you overlooked the facts/details. Good “catch.” No, really…

OP, I hope the DNR is able to assist you and punish this scumbag accordingly. I’d love to hear how it turns out so please keep us posted.

Thinking outside the box here, maybe a Good Samaritan put that blind out for you to sit in since you’re having trouble killing deer at you current spots?

Ok Ed maybe I am going to have to set up a blind where you hunt:smiley:

Probably the barbwire tattoo guy from your other post. How trustworthy is your neighbor?Don’t trust anyone if you hadn’t already thought of that. I agree with the others that a picture is your best chance without having to camp out on this guy.Good luck getting this dirty sob and don’t let your temper get away if run up on him. These guys must know when you’re coming and going.

A nice big bear trap in the blind would stop him! mabe a bag of rattlesnakes!

Hmmm, this incident may be worth looking into a little deeper…maybe the blind blew over the property line due to Hurricane Florence. Did you find any footprints? Hard to believe that all the game cameras on your property you didn’t already get a glimpse of the “Poacher” as listed in the above title.

Split tail that is funny:smiley:

Ground blinds can also be used as a weekend getaway for 2 when love is in the air, or rutting bucks trying to make a scrape line…Motel 6 1/2 we can’t leave the lights on because the extension cord isn’t long enough to steal power from the power pole! Yes it does suck that this is happening on your property and I hope that this will be last of it. Good luck on the deterring of the trespasser!

splittail, you honestly believe that with a ground blind set up whoever did this was not poaching? I know you are backtracking a bit, but really… ?
