Is there a wrong way to place the flags on poles? I have seen straight up and down the pole; around like a candy stripe; around the pole forming a flag looking attachment; and even wrapped in a single wrap so all you can really see is the flag number and not the dates.

I wrap mine so you can see the entire tag. Then cover it with 2 inch cellophane shipping tape. But have seen several other ways. As long as it’s on there you are legal
+1 wrap it all and cover with cellophane wrapping tape. Never any issue with fade or tearing.
I just place my “tags” on top of the ones from last year.

I do as biker, et. al. and put plastic tape over tag. I’ve had them loosen up before season over when left bare.
