Hitting the motor wouldn’t really be an issue. I had it propped on the motor for the pics. It would have to be mounted to the edge of the transom on the whaler. That would put the platform directly over the motor. Great on most boats. But my motor is already heavy and adding more weight and standing up there would probably drop the stern and need 12 inches of water to float. I was out today and poled from a cooler on the rear bench. With my wife up front, the boat balanced well. I also have two batteries under the front bench to help with the weight.
I’m still going back and forth on mounting it. My wife would like it when I fish up front. She likes to sit up high.
I bought it 6 months ago and still haven’t installed it. Maybe I’ll play with it this weekend.

You could save the top, and have someone bend you some new pipe. I think a platform stretched from gunnel to gunnel would be stronger, move you in front the motor, and give you some shade over the back of the boat. You could thru-bolt it along the edges channel.
