On my last trip I decided that I need rod holders on my poling platform.
What’s the best way to do it? Where to attach? Seems like an adjustable rig would be best. Also, I think I’d like them to be removable for flexibility.
Here’s a link to the ones offered by West Marine. Unfortunately, they probably won’t fit on your platform. They are made to mount on 7/8"-1" OD tubing. Most platform legs are at least 1" pipe (approx. 1 5/16" OD) or 1 1/4" pipe (approx. 1 1/2" OD)
If you decide on fixed mount, I can weld rod holders on for you, any position or angle.
I have a couple of the clamp mounted, third ones down, on my poling platform. There is a pdf download that has a cutout to measure and fit the clamps to your platform.
Cabella’s has a nice one that is cheap and very versatile ($20). It is a quick release and has many adjustments and the possibility to elevate the holder by using another shaft. Check them out, I have loved "em. Have on two boats. Found the single drill-hole mount to be the best for me.
FF I’m not sure how your platform is built. I was able to use the west marine style holders on my platform step and works great. They are adjustible and can be removed however I have never taken mine off and are never a problem. Here are a few pics if it helps.

This is the Lee’s on my boat. I like the fixed angle…one less thing to worry about rusting in place. Sorry theu are sideways but I’ve fixed them in PB and they still show up this way.

Just measured. My platform is constructed of tubing right at 2 inches o.d. The horizontal step tubes are not round and the smaller dimension is about 1 inch. Don’t know if I can make the West marine holders work.
Nice pics and boat SC. The Lee’s look like they work well.

FF if you look close at my steps they are made from oval shaped tubing not round and the ones from west marine fit great check them out. They are adjustable but have to be adjusted from the back side before mounting. they also have a plastic sleeve in the mount so when you mount them it dosent mark up the aluminum. FYI they have been on there since I purchased the boat and no issues with corosion and can be adjusted as needed. As far as needing the adjustment everyone has a reason for how they want them mounted if they are fixed no choice just my .02.
