POLL - Natural Gas Rigs off SC?

I’ve polled this many times and I’m curious if the fishing community’s response will be the same as the general population. One simple rule: Please no discussion on oil. This is a poll strictly on the searching and drilling of Natural Gas. Please put your response in big bold letters at the top and elaborate below if need be.

Question - Do you support the search for and drilling of NATURAL GAS off SC’s coast?

Yes or No.

EDIT - If it’s not too much trouble, please put your location in the comments. Additional information from me on Page 2 below.

Thanks,

YES;

Improves fishing and makes money for the state.

Can’t imagine the SC creeks looking like those that border LA/TX

Natural gas is currently at/around an all time low per BTU with fracking etc. going gangbusters. Let them wear it out inland and get the prices up before we risk our coastal areas.

NO

I believe it would be beneficial in a lot of ways, but I’d hate to see what that industry would do to our state as far as infrastructure is concerned.

NO. They will destroy our natural live bottoms. Don’t need it… I like the lowcountry the way it is. People have visions of yellowfin tuna in 1000’ of water. What will likely happen is that they will find plenty of natural gas on top of the continental shelf and drill the bejesus out of it. Why put rigs in 1000’ of water if you can put them in 50’ of water for half of the expense? They’ll probably never put rigs out in “tuna land” and all you will have is unattractive cuda catchers…

No

No only no but heck no.

No.
Artificial reefs, well-placed by our DNR biologists, will pump more money into South Carolina with no risks. Our saltwater license holders will pay for them, and it would be a good investment.

No, I’d rather see private artificial reef capability with approved materials.

Where would you put the support system for processing?

Yes

How can any of this be bad?

then yes when we run out of oil/gas to import hundreds of years from now. why use our natural resources when so many are willing to sell theirs.

still have tons of coal/gas/oil in most every state that doesn’t jeopardize our Marine life. Alaska alone, could support America for many years to come.

Deepwater Horizon is still in my mind.

NO we don’t need any more new people here.If your kin can’t be traced back to at least the civil war, you need to go back home!

Jobs?

Go work at Volvo or Boeing. The coast is already overwhelmed and the infrastructure can’t keep up. How is adding to this cluster going to be a positive?

Let’s drill all our live bottom areas… worst idea ever.

I have a HUGE problem with actively drilling offshore while we have MPA’s where we cannot fish. That’s insane to me.

There is a MASSIVE labor crisis in every sector of business in Charleston. There is huge demand for jobs and too many lazy entitled people. We have no crisis for natural or any gas at all. PLease VOTE NO for any discussion of this Mr Goldfinch. We need further allowance and state/fed money for artificial reefs…like 500’ ships sank in 200ft.
Thank You for posting and asking our opinions

And definitely no to anything south of us.
Yes to artificial reefs if you want better fishing. We will need them especially if rigs are built offshore our neighboring states.
