I hope that I’m not the only one that is getting more and more dismayed when I see all the trash that is washing on the shores of our creeks and marshes. I’m not getting into the Morris Island crap because that’s bad enough, but the amount of crap that is being put into the waters by all the plants on the cooper and by other people is just getting to be too much. I love the outdoors and all the beautiful places, but we’ve got to get people to be more vigilant with keeping trash and pollutants out of our waterways.
A lot of it comes from walk to shore fishing spots like the one under the north bridge. A strong high tide cleans the spots out every once and awhile and redistributes the filth everywhere else.
I have taught my kids when on the beach walking, to pickup any trash they see. When boating, anything we see floating gets netted and stowed onboard until we can throw it away. If everyone would do this think how much cleaner our playground would be.
Fishing on the bottom is like having sex with the lights turned off. It feels good… but I wanna see it.
Lights On!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside with a smoke in one hand and a beer in the other,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming…WOW -WHAT A RIDE!!!
I can’t believe how much trash ends up around my dock and marsh. It seems that whenever I clean it all up about 2 weeks later there is even more new trash.
“Plan like you will live forever but live like you will die tomorrow.”
I think that the source of most of the trash is our highways. Stuff blows out of trash trucks and pickups, works its way to the ditches and the ditches lead to our waterways. 526 alone crosses the Howbcaw Creek, the Wando, Clouter, Beresford, the Cooper, Filbin Creek, the Ashley and a bunch of other feeder creeks.
walmart parking lot in moncks corner runs straight to the tailrace then to the cooper. all the gas stations that runoff to the river should be more alarming.
