Went fishing for the first time this season yesterday around 4pm. Went to a large pond in Moncks Corner area, caught 3 little ones, had several bites, and hooked a 4 pounder that came out of the water and spit the hook.
Was encouraged that they were as active already, I was expecting a slower start with the cold temperatures lately. Planning to go tonight again while it’s still warm.
What baits were you using? Saw several yesterday but couldn’t elicit any bites.
Try trout tricks on 1/8 ounce jig head, I was fishing in a pond in a friends yard and couldn’t get a hit on about 4 or 5 other baits but was killing them on the trout tricks lots of hits caught six missed probably ten. I only had one on me so my friend and I kept switching turns he caught probably 4 or 5 and missed like ten also, the misses might have been pan fish or small ones but we only fished for like close to an hour and it was really cold, cloudy and windy.
