Pond fishin

Me and the boy hit the pond yesterday to throw some flys, and had a great time as usual. I had a bream, bass and bream before he even had a bite. And, I actually felt sorry for the guy! So, I tied on a different color popper and let him go to work. In short order, he has a bream, bass and bass to tie me! [:0]:imp::smiley: I gave him the tie breaker due to the 2 bass!

Bream #1

Bass #1

Bass #2

We went around the corner to another pond and I found a school of something at the surface. Tossed to them and the popper was getting demolished, but not hookup. Eventually got one hooked. Look at this whopper :face_with_head_bandage:

My son’s casting technique is not gonna win style points, but I keep my mouth shut b/c on his final cast he gets it out a good 35 ft, and as you can see he can catch-em! (and he’s only 10 yrs old :slightly_smiling_face:)

Those little bass are awesome to put in a fish tank.

Opt-

AWESOME. Great shots, looks like a great place for him to learn the long rod.

I’m proud of him, I have said “you know, we can bring the spinning rods and probably catch more bass”, and he replied “nah, I’d rather use the flyrod, its more of a challenge”

Thats awesome!
glad to see you are out there with your son, and that he likes the long rod. He will figure out the casting thing with some practice, and if he likes the challenge then he will want to figure out how to get more distance which will mean his casting style will have to get better.

Far better it is to dare mighty things to win glorious triumphs even though checkered with failure, than to take ranks with those poor spirits who never enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

congrats on teachin the youngin! whats the red line around the pond?
