Pontoon Shrimping

Anybody shrimped from a pontoon boat? We sold the bay boat and now have a 24 foot pontoon. I’m thinking about taking it to cow pen. Do you ever see any pontoons there? If we don’t take the pontoon we will take a 16’ jon boat. My main concern is running the pontoon aground somewhere. Jon boat would be easy unground or at least manageable. Any advice is appreciated.

Why not? Anchor up front and back, throw bait off all four corners and have at it

Just make sure to plant one shrimp pole to be legal if using bait.

me and my father-in-law go shrimping in a pontoon boat all the time. we generally never have any problems with it. loads of room in the boat up front when we take the seats out. all in all, its a relaxing trip of shrimping.

sounds like a good idea, thanks

We used to shrimp Bulls Bay from a pontoon, we put bait on both sides of the poles and 2 of us threw the net at the same time. It worked great and I hated it when my buddy sold it.
