Here is my problem. I have a place in edisto. I have 2 boats. Sea pro sv2300 and a 20 ’ pontoon. I was wondering if anyone has used a pontoon boat in brackish water. I am aware of all the steps I need to take to protect the aluminum and wires and such. I hate to let the pontoon go to waste and don’t want to just give it away. I thought I could use it to go crabbing and shrimping in the bay and rivers around edisto. Any thoughts?
I’ve seen a few running around at Bushy park. Also had a neighbor with one and we went several times out of may port to the jetties there.

I wouldn’t mind having that kind of problem

I live on Edisto and will take it off your hands. I would think you would be fine in any kind of water type if its calm enough. Some of the Eco tours use pontoons that average lots of time in the saltwater. They may use a bottom paint though
I’ve seen pontoons shrimping out in St Helena! One even had 2 motors I would think you would not have any trouble unless the wind was bad.
They rent Pontoons out of Murrells Inlet & there is a guide that goes out in one. Not sure about the bottom paint, might be a good thing to do if you are planning on using it much in the salt. You might could check on the Georgetown / Grandstrand portion of this forum & maybe they can help with who rents/guides them to see if they do anthing special before using them in the salt.
