Fished MI Thursday & Friday at low tide with only 3 blues caught. Was going again Saturday but boat parking was filled up from the festival. Headed to PI but it was packed too so went to GT. Have no idea where to go in that place & just too much water so messed around a while & headed back to MI for high tide after the festival cleared out. Finally got 1 under slot flounder. Tried some places I have caught before & some new ones, tried shrimp, mud minnow, & cut bait just nothing taking it. I have never caught fish in the same location twice so I am still finding places that produce. Hope you guys had better luck, I think the cold front before hand put a damper maybe.
(edit to specify: Murrells Inlet) Fishing is real fickle, at least it was last week. Agree about the temperature. There are mostly small flounder, the redfish aren’t in their summer pattern yet, the bait is hard to follow. And now the moon is messing with things too I guess. Yesterday I brought home four flounder, today couldn’t buy a bite. Same area, same tide, go figure.

Yep…what he said…
I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!
Always a bright side. I guess still better then being at work.
Dont be afraid to just poke around Gtown and WB. Its the only way you will ever learn. My family owns a home on MI, and I got so sick of the boat traffic on MI I learned WB. Best decision I ever made. You have everything there. Tarpon at the Jetties…Along with everything else…redfish in the flats…Flounder galore in NI (and the bay). Along the channel around the lighthouse there are places to slay whiting, etc. I have caught everything down there. One day in August I caught a half a dozen trout on a Carolina rig with Mullet. You never know.
I have learned my way around MI somewhat as far as navigating the area, just not the fishing holes, ha…
I would love to learn GT since I have heard from countless people on the great fishing there like you said. I hear people mention these places like you did but of course have no idea where they are talking about. I have a 18 foot tiller steer Jon boat so that open water, wind, current, & boat traffic can be tough when you do not know the area. I put in at Ball park & that is a long way down to the Jetties & have wanted to try Ferry landing since it is closer to the end but have always heard it gets filled up & hard to find parking.
My main concerns are I seem to go from 25’ water to 2’ water in no time. I know I can stay in the channel but tough with the bigger boats zooming by & trying to zig & zag there wakes.
If you have any suggestions on time & days that Ferry is a better place to put in or help with navigating such as yet places to avoid please do. I would appreciate the help.
The ferry parking lot does fill up but the long walk down the road just helps gets my exercise in. Go explore, take your time pay CLOSE attention to gps/depth finder and keep up with the tide and you will find fish. Takes some time but I love Georgetown!
Thanks guys, I will have to give that lower end a try next time I am down.
