I saw a TV fishing show maybe a year ago. The guide on the show was using what looked to be a big “sexy mullet” paddle tail. By big, I mean that it looked like a 4-5inch pin fish. I believe these guides were in the bays of NC going after reds.
My question is: Does anyone fish lures under a popping cork other than DOA shrimp? If so, do you work it like a DOA?
sure, gulp shrimp doa plastics all work great. I think the clicking and the rise and fall of the bait as you pop the cork is what makes them so deadly.
The VUDU Shrimp is the JAM or as I have heard recently the “HEAT”. All I have been using lately is the white Vudu and a trout trick and laying the wood to trout and red fish.
Only issue is the Vudu Shrimp is sold out everywhere in the colors I would recommend. Even if you go to Egret Baits they dont even have them online.
You can use any soft plastic you want under a popping cork. They all work well. Paddle tail, twister tail, artificial shrimp, jerk baits (sic) 5" or 3". Use the smallest grub head possible. Particularly effective is a 3" jerk bait, black with the gold flecks, with an 1/8oz plain grey grub head.
